Affordability – “Who are we?”

A vague term that different candidates interpret… well, differently. This is about goods, housing, medical care, transportation, and so on. Basic essentials everyone needs.

I want to highlight our current situation, which is that we are the second most tax
regressive State. Of the many ways to tackle this broad concept of Affordability I will touch upon dynamic pricing, amend RCW 35 regarding rent control for cities and towns, & advocate for Universal Healthcare. I’ve seen and experienced the disparities of earnings, Leave, and Scheduling from different work environments. Respectfully, at this point in time, money buys
freedom, and people deserve to afford the decency of financial freedom.

People over Party – “What are we doing?”
I ask towards the Democratic “Establishment,” the comfortable people who count on you in November, and forget by January. “Vote blue, but it matters who.” Democrats are not always the solution. Sometimes we are the problem, and pretending otherwise is how we got here. If we want to find the answer, we cannot walk with blind party loyalty, let alone anyone who accepts Corporate PAC money. Speaking of which, I take absolutely no corporate PAC money! Recently, I was 1 of 75 who pushed an Urgent Resolution to condemn the DNC for disregarding Ranked Choice Voting. I’m not here to fight the party, I’m here to fight the “Establishment” that led us to this point, marking a new quality assurance standard for your legislature.

Smart Public Investments – “Where do we want to go?”

The US Constitution outlines the purpose of government in 6 ways. “form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

I want our State to go towards long term infrastructure that pays off for decades. To invest into water projects our farmers were promised generations ago, protecting our power and water from data centers that drain both without paying their due, investing in wildfire prevention before our towns burn, and amending the funding of our schools to help local School Boards not need Levies, which directly affect the most vulnerable.

I strongly support transitioning to a Whole-Washington style universal healthcare system. Let’s put out the fire of the Medical Industry that has burned a hole into our, and our States’, wallet. Legislation such as the failed SB 5955 (2025-2026) is one more step to our goal of saving lives, and money.

First off, Data centers are not bad, but what is bad is a giant piece of infrastructure that sucks water and power from a community that is already struggling enough. Our economy, for some communities, depends on data centers due to low property tax levy rate incentives that also affect local municipalities. My goal is to make Washington communities not so dependent on the idea of a data center; our communities are not for sale.

You can look at this two ways. As a moral question, or as a matter of fiscal responsibility. Both lead to the same place.

I have spent many shifts in the visitation department of my state prison job. I have seen families rift apart, and how it affects the Incarcerated afterwards from their exit, to the breezeway, to their cell. When the time arrives for an Incarcerated to return home, it isn’t easy because it is a lot harder when there is nothing left, let alone stable, to come home to.

Research from a Minnesota study has given not just proof, but insight! It has shown that not every relationship helps, because unhealthy ones may make things worse. Furthermore, Oklahoma already has a program similar to this! Every Incarcerated enjoys themself a visit, but none get to enjoy the full benefits of a healthy visit. And these visits are difficult for families to discuss sensitive topics when just a few feet away is another family with their own internal conflict. A stable home and healthy relationship may reduce the recidivism rate. That is $57,000 – $90,000 per Incarcerated the State may save per year by preventing recidivism, with this Smart Public Investment.

The Citizens who vote us into office should also have the ability to vote us out of office. I believe we should amend the Washington State Constitution, specifically Article 1, Section 33. I advocate we remove “malfeasance or misfeasance while in office, or who has violated his oath of office” verbiage. Legislators shouldn’t be micromanaged, but they also shouldn’t ignore their base. This may sound drastic, but majority of other States don’t even have a policy for requirements regarding a recall; our lovely Washington is one of a few States that requires a specific cause.

Washingtonians are being outbought from their homes! We have legislation to stop that, but Corporate Democrats got in the way…

Large corporate entities are outbidding Washington families and local investors for a place to live. SB 5496 would have stopped the biggest buyers who hold more than 100 single-family homes from buying up even more. This bill passed the State Senate and then died in the House.

That is the problem with Olympia, good ideas make it halfway, and stall. Send me there, and I will be another voice trying to get this type of legislation passed on your behalf.
